My name is Laia Font and I’m a 24 year-old journalism graduate from a city near Barcelona. I’ve written for magazines and newspapers covering many subjects such as: culture, politics and feminism. The thing I’m most interested in, however, is the pursuit of fusing art with politics and the subjective experiences that lie therein. With photography I’m exploring all narrative possibilities which, for the moment, focus on the subjective and creative distortion of reality, my inner mental state, and the history behind the settings and subjects I’ve chosen.
I developed this project in Chile, where I traveled after graduating and where I ended up staying for over a year. The images were taken in the Atacama Desert and reflect how natural vastness, beauty, and silence are still alive and still shape ways of living in some parts of the world.
